Aftermath[edit | edit source]
This race could be considered the beginning of the end of Tony Durbin's reign as the TM Master Cup Series most popular driver. After the race had concluded, he said some pretty negative comments about several drivers in particular, including accusing Alexis Rainsford and Ian Cooper of using carbon brakes (an investigation by officials later revealed that both cars were clean), and had some particularly nasty comments about Franz Redlich, Stephanie McGlynn, and Yuliya Nosova. This was a nastier side to Durbin that a lot of fans had never seen before. Needless to say, a lot of his fans were turned off by his negative attitude, and by the end of the season, it was Alexis Rainsford who was voted Most Popular Driver over Durbin.
