Pre-race storylines[edit | edit source]

The biggest story entering the race dealt with the tires: tire supplier Rubber-Dub-Dub brought the same compound to the track that they did in 2010. However, in the off-season the Albuquerque Speedbowl was renovated and repaved, which meant the new track surface ate tires like candy. Despite complaints from drivers, ARLA officials told the teams to muddle through.
