Pre-race storylines[edit | edit source]
Several teams announced changes in the aftermath of the Round of Daytona. Among these was Team Saar USA, which confirmed that their reserve driver, Anthony Griffith, would be replacing Mike Whitmore for this race. The team did not appeal Whitmore's suspension.
Modified driver Kraig Mummert took the place of Woody Watts in the No. 6 Delano Bolden. Mummert will make his first TM Master Cup Series start and will drive the No. 6 car for most of the remaining races. The team has suggested that Carlos Donzelo or Jose Luis Martinez may get a run in the car in the future if a race emerges that conflicts with Mummert's modified schedule.
Team Thunder would run a special scheme for their home race.
Trevor Carrington Racing announced that its No. 29 car will be renumbered to 99. The team did not give a reason for this change. However, it is possible that Leslie Riggs's crash motivated the highly superstitious Trevor Carrington to change the number of the car to 99. VSCC driver Cameron Taylor was tabbed to drive the car. Taylor would also drive the No. 99 Calton-Morel Nova at Wisconsin, Southern Illinois Grand Detour and Indianapolis
Volpi Racing Team announced that Packer Carroll would pilot the No. 1 Volpi in the remaining American races (not including Indianapolis or Decatur, where Alexis Rainsford would drive the car), with Divina Henton filling in at British Columbia and Quebec.
