Pre-race storylines[edit | edit source]
A hot rumor through the TM Master Cup Series paddock is that James Dalton Racing will be absorbed by Team Saar USA to a limited extent. The details of the possible absorption of JDR by Team Saar USA would apparently entail a type of customer chassis that would be built by James Dalton Race Engineering, but raced by both teams under different names. Customer chassis are only allowed to be used by Independent's Trophy runners, but that hasn't stopped some teams in the paddock to wonder if customer cars aren't already being used by the three Saar factory teams and the two Inglesby factory teams.
The casual nature of the Saar USA-Dalton deal has sparked the interest of three of the TM Master Cup Series' most influential teams. Star Team Nemoto, Volpi Racing Team, and Hodges-Walter Racing have filed a joint inquiry to the TM Master Cup Series officials. Power Steering, Inc. announced it would file its own inquiry with officials. They have suggested independent tests on the current cars used by Team Saar USA, Rick Milligan Racing, Camelot Racing, FLASH Racing, and Owen DeGarmo Enterprises.
Representatives from both FLASH Racing and Owen DeGarmo Enterprises said that they would be happy to be subject to an independent deconstruction of the current Inglesby Flashback M-Type and the Juneau AMX-5.
In other news, Leon Keniston was dismissed from the No. 39 Lenard he drove for Ocean Motorsports. He was replaced by Danny Savin. Also, Scuderia Tutino announced Canadian driver Gerald Johnson would pilot the No. 42 car this week and at British Columbia.
