Championship

The 2011 TM Lights season was the first season of TM Lights competition following the merger with the TM Junior Series.

Preseason changes[edit | edit source]

The TM Junior Series and the TM Lights were merged following the 2010 season. As a result, the series ceased being a spec series (only the Omecha chassis was allowed in 2010), allowing other manufacturers into the series.

The series was also divided into three divisions: North, South, and East. However, all 126 cars would, regardless of their divisional assignment, be competing for the same championship.

The season began at the Las Vegas Autoring, as a support race for the 2011 Round of Las Vegas in the TM Master Cup. The race was one of two races where all 126 cars would compete on the same day – the season-ending Round of Decatur is the other.

In-season changes[edit | edit source]

Billy Fortner, Inc., which fielded entries for Billy Fortner and Martin Fortner, Jr., withdrew from the TM Lights North Division after the Round of Indianapolis. Alex Harrison Racing and Team Timothy added additional cars to replace the Fortner entries.

Bruce Wilkinson failed a series-mandated drug test following the Round of British Columbia and was placed on indefinite suspension. Cameron Taylor filled the seat for the Round of Decatur.
