Pre-race storylines[edit | edit source]
Jaguar Racing fired No. 155 car driver Shane Lake after the 2011 150 Laps of Dwyer. The team cited poor chemistry with the rest of the team, but it was widely believed that the fact Lake hid injuries sustained in a Champ Car test accident was the real reason for his termination. Ashley Tucker replaced Lake in the car. However, this also costed Jaguar Racing its sponsorship. Lake pulled the plug on funding Jaguar Racing with his restaraunt chain, Dawgfather's Bar & Grill, in retaliation for his termination from the team.
Barry Spengler and Kelly Splison debuted the Lycoia chassis in this event.
