Pre-race storylines[edit | edit source]

Shane Lake signed on with Pearson/Sweeney Motorsports for the balance of the 2011 season, driving the No. 82D Saar.

Dan Mullen stepped into the booth and provided commentary for the race, returning the favor Scott Bush did in covering the TM Master Cup Round of Michigan.

Race one[edit | edit source]

Suiiju Dejao scored the pole for the first race, and raced Packer Carroll hard in the first corner, but Carroll fell back in behind Dejao heading up the esses.. On Lap 14, Dejao slid wide off the next-to-last corner, and Packer made his move on the outside of Dejao off the final corner. He was not in the preferred line, but Packer was still able to outbrake Dejao into turn 1 and was able to eventually complete the pass heading into the esses.

Several cars had difficulties navigating the Bus Stop chicane during the event, including Michael Madrigal, Bruce Wilkinson, and Scott Dalitz.

Carroll went on to dominate the second half of the race, sailing to his first victory of the season in the No. 71 Grape Soup Volpi. Dejao would finish second.

After the race, Packer would treat the fans to his patented Bronco Buster Burnout down the front stretch.

Chuck Bloomers would notch his career-best finish with a 10th-place effort.

Race two[edit | edit source]

Rene Recarmier qualified on pole for this race, however, due to penalties incurred after the last race, Recarmier started at the rear of the field. Brenda Riggs would start first on the grid. Riggs would lead 11 of the first 12 laps before going out in an accident with Kevin Monroe in the Bus Stop.

Tyson Lautenschlager and Gary DeSouza got together on the first lap, leading to a scary wreck which saw Lautenschlager's No. 70 Karl Revolution get airborne entering the Boot.

Scott Morales and Amy Harrison got together on Lap 5 with Morales smacking the guard rail coming into the Esses and then being pushed over by Harrison's Kivett. Benji Flynn, Makoto Yamada, and Leigh Gruell were also involved in the incident. Morales' car would end up on its roof.

Also, this race saw the return of the No. X/0 car, this week being piloted by Ebenezer Quiggles, Jr. And, like at the 150 Laps of Dwyer, OEN experienced technical problems whenever the car was on camera.

Yevgeny Kuznetsov made his debut in the race for RUS Autosport, which also marked Tolyatti's debut in the series. It was speculated that Kuznetsov brought the same car to Watkins Glen that Tolyatti attempted to put on the grid for the TM Master Cup Round of Indianapolis.

Recarmier and Derek Dudding got together on Lap 11 in the Boot, with Recarmier picking up damage after he dumped the slower TTE of Dudding. Recarmier would end up in 20th place.

Todd Wodarczyk passed Taylor Brillon coming into the Boot to take the lead – a lead he would not relinquish, giving Gravity Racing, Inc. its second twin-race sweep of the season (the first was at Verdugo).
