Championship Overview |
The 2012 CRL Modified Division season is the Continental Racing League Modified Division's 24th season of competition. Tina Lee is the reigning Drivers' Champion, and her team, Speedy Enterprises, is the reigning Owners' Champion.
For the first time ever, the series will venture overseas with the brand-new, five-race CRL Global Cup Presented by FedEx. See the article for the 2012 edition of this competition for more information.
Schedule[edit | edit source]
The schedule will consist of 20 races, with the opening round being staged on Presidents' Day Weekend, and the final round being held the weekend before Halloween.
The field for the Converse All-Star 200 will consist of drivers who have won a race in the first 10 rounds of the season, drivers who have won a Red Robin Pole Award, but not a race, and the five highest-ranking drivers in points who have won neither a race nor a pole. This is the first of a five-year deal between the CRL and Bowman-Gray Stadium to stage the All-Star race.
The series's race at Phoenix will be held on the newly reconfigured track, in which the dogleg in the back has been banked to encourage more passing.
Seven of the 20 races on the calendar will be held at night. The round at Darlington will be held under the lights for the very first time.
- GC-CRL Global Cup (See the article 2012 CRL Global Cup for more.)
- The blue boxes represent a road/street course race.
(*)-Event will be split into two races, with cars in odd-numbered positions in Owners' Points racing in Race 1, and cars in even-numbered positions in Race 2.
