The Mallory Park GP was the sixth race of the 2012 Dash Cup season, the third on an oval so far this year. This race was marred with crashes in the first half of the race, the most spectacular of which being the last (which brought out a red flag) when the cars of Jakob Hughes and Ashley Ambercroft both flipped over the guardrail in turn 3.
Several drivers made their debut this race, including Patrick Eichholtz, Yannick Dubois, Lev Azarov, Harriet Wallace and Sean Sanchez.
This race sparked a lot of controversy between drivers and owners. Many spoke out in public in interviews, and some on their "twitter feeds". While people like Carla Rosinki blame the cars safety, others blame the track safety of Mallory Park such as Vijay Pushanda and Ryan Matthews, while others such as Jacob Eichholtz, Ben Atkins and Daniel Miller blame the driving styles of other drivers. In reaction to the injuries sustained by drivers, Dash Cup officials removed both Rockingham Motor Speedway and Mallory Park from the 2013 schedule.
