Championship Overview

The 2013 American Stock Car Championship season (officially: Goodyear Presents the ASCC Wrangler Cup Series) is the current season of the American Stock Car Championship, and fourth since the revival of the series in 2010.

Preseason changes[edit | edit source]

James Dalton Racing, following in the footsteps of other TM Master Cup teams, defected to the series for 2013. They became the flagship Bolden team, fielding four cars.

Powerhouses Team Saar USA and McCallister Motorsports merged during the offseason, forming a five-car team. Garth McCallister, Jr. brought his #12 to the new Saar team, and the team also signed veteran Frank Azure, and Texas 500 winner Bill Calhoun. This displaced fan favorite Travis Marshall and former rising star Ethan Everett, who moved to Southern Motorsports and Ocean Motorsports, respectively.

Ocean Motorsports retained none of their 2012 drivers; Lorne Roth and Curtis Darcy have seemingly retired, Dan Richards left the team to join the TM Lights series, and Tim Woodard was released. Joining the team would be Tom Delgado, returning from a brief retirement, Mike Whitmore, and Everett.

Schedule[edit | edit source]

A twelve-race schedule was announced; one race less than the previous season. However, there will only be ten racetracks, as both Daytona and Talladega will host two events. Each of the two tracks will host one race in the regular season, and one in the Chase for the Wrangler Cup. Daytona also replaces Atlanta as the season finale. This also means that five of the season's twelve races will be held on superspeedways, with New York being the other. There will be no road course race, and eleven of the twelve races will be at tracks 1.5 miles or longer.
