The Chicagoland Speedway is a 1.5-mile (2.414-km) D-shaped oval located in Joliet, Illinois.
It was the home of the TM Master Cup Round of Chicago in 2007 and 2008. The race was known as the Round of Joliet in 2009.
History[edit | edit source]
Prior to the construction of the track, there was (and still is) a drag strip next door. In 2001, the oval was built and since from that point on held a Master Cup race until 2010, when its date was purchased by the owners of the Lone Star Supercell in Houston, Texas. Other series that use or have used the track include the Global Racing League, VSCC/RROL, and the ARLA Elite Series.
Unfortunately, it is also infamous as the track where 6-time TM Master Cup Series champion Benny Dwyer lost his life in a crash in 2001.
