2012; In With a Cause[edit | edit source]

Garry Carter came out of retirement as a driver when he daughter, Tanya, suffered a near-fatal crash at Darlington in 2012. Therefore, Carter took over the car after being in retirement since 2002. At 64 years old, he became one of the oldest drivers on the circuit. Carter did not perform too bad, despite a flip at Carbondale, Carter had some solid runs, for example, he scored his first career podium in the 2012 Wisconsin SuperPrix with a 2nd place finish, then he took the pole at the 2012 Watkins Glen 139 where, again, he would finish 2nd. In the 2012 Hanmore Vegas 250, he had a day with mixed feelings. He had been in a big crash in the middle of the race, and his son flipped his car over a few laps later, but Natalie Kendall, driving for his team took home the teams 2nd victory of the season, the first being the out-of-action Tanya Carter at Memphis. After an uneventful race at Mayville, Carter moved onto the Hanmore World Championships, where shades of Darlington loomed over the race track. The #92 car was in a heavy accident where his car slammed the wall, flipped over and started barrel rolling. Carter was injured in the incident, and his injuries unfortunately left him paralyzed. Ultimately, Tiffany Matthews, Cody Keaton and Tyson Lautenschlager who were also in this incident, were killed.
