Johnathon Ouellet Quackenbush (born June 29, 1988), better known as John Quackenbush, is a former sports car driver and International Sports Car Association Champion (2009) from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, who now competes in the National Pro Cup Championship, driving the #28 Surge Isanni for Gravity Racing, Inc. He is known in the sports car world as "the Quackster" and more commonly as "Duckman", which is a play on his last name.

Bio[edit | edit source]

Quackenbush was born to French-Canadian parents Elise and François Quackenbush in 1988. In 2000, François bought a go-kart for his son and took him on the kart racing circuit across Canada. John won a pair of 150cc national championships before moving up to compete in sports car racing in 2006 at the age of 18, starting out driving for his father in the now defunct Canadian Sports Car Tour, where he won six races during the two seasons he competed.

International Sports Car Association (2008-2012)[edit | edit source]

He then moved on to the International Sports Car Association in 2008, driving for Galaxy Motorsports Unlimited, driving his favorite number and the one he has used his entire racing career, #28. Quackenbush won the ISCA world championship in 2009 on the strength of 11 wins in 15 starts, the last driver to win the title before German driver Erik Draachreider began his reign of three consecutive ISCA titles with Gravity Racing, Inc. in 2010. Quackenbush and Draachreider would develop a fierce rivalry on the track, but were good friends off it, despite Draachreider getting the better of Quackenbush during most of Quackenbush's ISCA career.

World Sports Car Championship (2013)[edit | edit source]

In 2013, both Draachreider and Quackenbush would move on to different racing series, with Draachreider joining Dragonrider Motorsports for the 2013 Dash Cup season, with Quackenbush remaining in sports car racing when he joined Hailstorm Motorsports to run the 2013 World Sports Car Championship season, teaming with another German sports car driver, Zane Vanderheiden, to drive the #1 car in the WSCC A Class. Quackenbush saw some success, but not as much as he had in the past, causing him to become a bit disenchanted with sports car racing. After the 2013 season, Quackenbush decided to take up stock car racing, with the hopes of making it up to the TM Master Cup Series one day. He was signed by Draachreider's old team, Gravity Racing, Inc., to compete in the National Pro Cup Championship in 2014, driving the family number 28 Isanni. His friend and rival Draachreider would also join the NPCC, driving the #1 Saint Amazing Autosport Red Bull Helsing, and essentially renewing their old rivalry from the ISCA.

National Pro Cup Championship, TM Lights & Independents' Trophy (2014)[edit | edit source]

Quackenbush made his stock car debut at Daytona, where he finished 2nd after an impressive run, while his rival Draachreider struggled to finish 10th. He earned his first career win at Long Beach, which marked his third career win on the famous street circuit, with the other two wins coming in the ISCA. He would follow that up with two poles at Grand Detour and Diablo Hills, and would pick up two more victories at Hoosier Raceway and Diablo Hills, with the latter clinching his first major stock car championship when he won the Ultimatum Cup.

Quackenbush finished 3rd in the NPCC points standings.

In TM Lights, Quackenbush scored his first top ten and led his first laps at Carbondale. He scored his first career podium when he finished runner-up at Road Atlanta.

He is currently 6th in the championship standings after three races.

Personal Life[edit | edit source]

Quackenbush is currently single.

Quackenbush's more commonly used nickname, Duckman, derives from the TV show of the same name, which is also a play on his last name.

He is friends and rivals with fellow sports car champion and NPCC driver Erik Draachreider.

He is fluent in both French and English.
