Dash Cup Driver |
Justin Gregory Keith is a Canadian Dash Cup driver from Dawson City, Yukon, Canada. He is known for his bitter rivalry with Atlantic Motorsports and his team owner Ben Atkins. At Spa, in 2010, Atkins was leading on the white flag, trying to hold off Justin Keith for the win. But in the fifth turn, Keith ran into the back of Atkins, spinning him out, then Atkins' car hit the tire barrier and suffered terminal damage to the car. Keith claims that Atkins was "in the way so I put him out of the way" which resulted in Atkins finishing second in points, and one of the most controversial finishes in Dash Cup history.
Early Career[edit | edit source]
Justin got his taste for racing in snowmobiles at the age of 6, winning 15 races in 10 years. At age 18 he entered his first Sports car race at the Mosport International Raceway, he finished 28th out of 30 when his gearbox gave up. He won the 2005 Canadian Sports Car championship racking up 3 wins. He was also known for the most heartbreaking finish in Canadian Sports Car history, when he ran out of gas on the last turn at the HLR Circuit in 2008, giving Lucas Flint the win.
Dash Cup[edit | edit source]
Justin made his first Dash Cup start at the 2009 Dash Cup Karjala GP for a part time schedule, where he finished 11th. He would race at Monaco and Spa, but finished in the back.
2010[edit | edit source]
Justin went into the season finishing 3rd at Eurospeedway. He would nab his first win at the 2010 Dash Cup Norisring GP. He would have 8 top 10 finishes, 5 top 5's and 2 wins, the other coming at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps on the aforementioned controversial finish.
2012[edit | edit source]
His 2012 season is off to a terrible start, being more of a punching bag for the drivers on the track. He finally got his third win at Brno. He crashed out of the Spa qualifiers, in which he calls "Karma for wrecking Ben Atkins in 2010". He would finish off the 2012 season with a win at Brno, 3 top 5's and 4 top 10's, along with that, he finishes 13th in points.
