Lucas Günther Grabert (born December 29, 1993 in Hamburg, Germany) is a German race car driver. He currently competes full-time in the TM Master Cup Series, driving for Lawrence Gravity Racing. During his racing career, he has spent the majority of his early years in karting racing and open wheel racing. He has briefly spent some time in rallying and GT racing.
Before 2018[edit | edit source]
Lucas Grabert began his racing career at the age of six, driving on go karts all across Germany. At the age of 16, he won the World Karting Championship. He proceeded to begin his open wheel racing career after winning the karting championship. Grabert showed enormous success right off the bat by winning the Germany Junior Formula championship on the virtue of winning 10 out of 14 races in 2011. While he was racing in several open wheel racing series in Europe throughout his open wheel racing career, he competed several Indianapolis 500's on one-offs. In his Indianapolis 500 attempts, he solely raced for Hirschberg Sport Racing. His best finish in the Indianapolis 500 is 3rd.
2018[edit | edit source]
Shortly after he announced he would stop doing open wheel racing to pursue interest in stock car racing, he attempted to qualify for the 2018 Round of Decatur. He failed to qualify for the race.
2019[edit | edit source]
In 2019, he signed a deal to race for Lawrence Gravity Racing for the 2019 TM Master Cup Series Season. He will race alongside team co-owner Packer Carroll. Although the deal is shocking to most people in the media due to his little experience in stock car racing, team co-owner Frank Lawrence said he believes Grabert will get the job done because of his experiences in other racing disciplines.
