Trajectory

Trajectory is a statistical term used in race scoring that represents the difference between starting position and finishing position.

Some series, such as the RROL North-Atlantic Open-Wheel Modified Asphalt Division, tally trajectory over the course of an entire season.

Other series award bonus points to the driver who has the greatest trajectory in a race, making up the most positions between the start and finish. In 2017, Billy Ray Smith-Thompson clinched the FARC Lowe Dollar Series championship over Lev Azarov, thanks to clinching the Hard Charger bonus in the Rockford 200. Interestingly, FARC then dropped the Hard Charger bonus points before the 2018 season.
