Amanda Lizette Torres (born April 6, 2000) is an American racing driver.

Childhood[edit | edit source]

Amanda was born in Mexico City on April 6, 2000. At the age of 2, her family left Mexico & moved across the border into the United States. After bouncing between Texas towns for a couple of years, at the age of 8 she moved to Denton with her mother. Her father, Humberto, died tragically in a plane crash when she was in kindergarten.

Go-Karts[edit | edit source]

Amanda got her start in Go-Karts at the age of 9. However, success did not come to her until she was 11. In 2011, she won her first of five straight Texas state Go-Kart championships. To win her 5th one, she had to come from the back of the field, even wrecking her own brother. The wreck was accidental though, and she ended up lapping the field to win that 5th championship. Unbeknownst to her, Tom Delgado Racing owner & motorsports legend Tom Delgado was in attendance scouting future talent for his team, and this led to her next opportunity.

2015: Aspira Juniors Summer Series[edit | edit source]

Dash Cup officials announced the formation of the Aspira Juniors Summer Series. Tom Delgado Racing announced that she would be one of their drivers alongside Briton Shane Leitch. She will drive the #37 Defender Muffler Systems car, and has been touted as a potential successor to her boss in terms of driving ability.

In her first full season abroad, Torres scored a win in the 2nd race at the Croft Circuit. She was immediately tapped for promotion to Tom Delgado Racing's main Dash Cup team for the 2016 season.

2016: Promotion[edit | edit source]

Amanda will compete for rookie of the year honors, running the #83 Defender Muffler Systems Aspira. Her livery for the season is a patriotic, not too dissimilar to what Tom Delgado ran to a 2nd place finish in the 2015 New York GP.

Personal Life[edit | edit source]

Amanda is a sophomore at Denton High School. She will have a tutor traveling with her to make sure she keeps up with her studies. She has said that if motorsports doesn't work out for her, she wants to try her hand at singing.
