FARC National Series Driver

Carlo De Pretto (Born September 20, 1971), is an Italian race car driver who has won in both Dash Cup and the ARLA Elite Series. He competed in both series for Tom Delgado Racing until being fired in 2014, and faded from the motorsports scene after a part-time FARC stint with Bjorn Green Racing in 2015.

As of 2019, he is serving a ten-year prison sentence in Italy for wire fraud.

Dash Cup[edit | edit source]

Carlo spent part of 2012 with Tom Delgado Racing's Dash Cup team, enjoying some success in winning the 2012 Karjala GP. He ended up running 8 races and finished 30th in the final points standings.

ARLA Elite Series[edit | edit source]

De Pretto was tabbed to share the #26 Xoron Nemoto with TM Master Cup Series Independent's Trophy contender Morgan Hamburg. In his debut at Quincy in the 2012 FABricators 250, De Pretto had no speed whatsoever but was able to survive the mayhem and finish 12th, 3 laps down. He would struggle in his other starts, and not even get a shot to run the Mini Indy 500, as team officials thought he was not ready to drive in a major event. De Pretto would finish a respectable 15th in his final ARLA start at Houston before returning to European competition in the Dash Cup.

Citing the need for a driver to preserve Jim Hayes rookie status for 2013, MRD Motorsports recalled De Pretto and had him drive the #26 in the Japanese tour. Their faith was rewarded as De Pretto won the 2012 Saitama 200, showing that he has a considerable amount of skill on the road courses. De Pretto also finished 10th in his heat at the 2012 Nemoto Tokyo 120k's, and successfully qualified for the 2012 Rockford 200. With team boss Tom Delgado having more health issues, Carlo was tabbed to drive the #37 Spinner Rotors Nemoto in 2013 in that team's Tornado Alley trophy campaign.
