TM Master Cup Series Driver

Scott Bates is an American racing driver from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He races for Team EFR in the TM Master Cup series, typically driving the #88 (though he will switch to #6 in 2019). Following the retirement of Dale Roswell, he is the oldest and longest-tenured full-time driver in the series.

Bates is known to be very fast at superspeedways, having won the Round of Daytona five years in a row from 1990 to 1994, and winning at Talladega a record nine times. Bates has won more races at Daytona than any other driver, claiming 9 wins at the track.

He has also become a skilled road racer in recent years, capturing the first ever race held in Russia and repeatedly showing speed at the Decatur Raceway, where he won in 2011. Bates has been a supporter of MS research, which he advertised on his 2011 car. He is also a United States military veteran, one of two in the Master Cup series along with Greg Woodard.

He was often considered the greatest driver to have not won a TM Master Cup championship, before finally winning it in 2015.

  • Scott Bates is the name of the creator of Ernhrtfan Racing, where the TM Master Cup series is hosted. Ernhrtfan Racing was originally called TsSsSkL Motorsports, but the name and ownership of the site changed hands when the webmaster could not pay the bills anymore. The real Scott Bates, a paralyzed veteran, has designed three paint schemes that have raced in real life:
