Scuderia Tutino, commonly referred to as just Tutino, is an Italian-based race team currently competing in the TM Master Cup Series. They originally built their own in-house chassis, before developing relationships with larger Italian manufacturers.
Upon its debut in motorsport's top flight in 2011, the team was a perennial backmarker, but it is this status as such that had endeared it to the Master Cup fan base. Even so, the Scuderia car earned the occasional points result, with its first top-10 finish coming in 2014 at British Columbia.
After initially relying on pay drivers for their first two seasons, the team settled on a stable driver lineup for 2013 in Dash Cup star Ben Atkins, and FIAM factory driver Alessandro Rossini. FIAM assisted Tutino in the development of the chassis, and performance improved, with the team now more frequently managing midfield results. Rossini would be hired away to Volpi Racing Team for 2014, but Tutino continued to develop and modify the FIAM equipment. As Rossini moved onto success with Volpi, Tutino would develop a closer relationship with them as well. With the ban on customer cars in Master Cup recently lifted, Tutino will now field year-old Volpi VC10s for the 2019 season.
Tutino has developed a reputation as a stepping stone for drivers who go on to opportunities and success with better-funded Master Cup and TM Lights teams, such as Rossini, Atkins, and TM Lights champion Axel Andersson.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Tutino is a loving tribute to former CART team Euromotorsport. They even have the same numbers (42 and 50).
