Michael Humpfreys (born on May 24th, 1990) is a American race car driver from Thompson, Connecticut. He currently competes in TM Lights. He was a former competitor in ASCC. He won the 2013 running of the Texas 500. He is a local hero at his home-track of Thompson Speedway.

Humble Beginnings and not so humble future[edit | edit source]

Humpfreys started racing karts at 8 years old, moving into legend cars at the age of 13. He won numerous races at Thompson. His competitors called him *The next big thing since the invention of the automobile*. He landed a development deal with some big shot team that died 2 years after leaving Michael without a ride. After some mediocre results in the north-east, he was back racing at Thompson for another 5 years. 2010 arrived, and he decided to leave racing for 2 years, citing a lack of interest. *He was a bust, simple as that* said by some of the same guys who thought he was the next Leonid Roderick. After 2 years on hiatus, he got a call from James Dalton Racing to drive the 09 car in the ASCC. Humpfreys itching to return to the race track, accepted his offer.

2013: ASCC[edit | edit source]

Humpfreys arrived at Texas Motor Speedway after not being in a car in forever, he initially struggled in testing and in opening practice, then his team became faster each time they ran some laps, they had hit something, in qualifying they got a top 15 run, then the race happened, attrition along with some good timing allowed Humpfreys to win the prestigious Texas 500. Drunken Todd Benatar even said, *He's going to be a star in the future*. Michael in victory lane, didn't believe where he was. Humpfreys personally knew that his bright star was growing. He won the pole at Daytona, but sadly didn't get another win, but made the chase. After a eventful chase, Humpfreys decided to leave ASCC, to drive in TM Lights with Alex Harrison Motorsports along with a shot at the Independent's Trophy with the same team.

2014: TMMC/TM Lights[edit | edit source]

Humpfreys made his first TMMC race at the Round of France and collected 12th place, and finished mid-pack in Sweden. Meanwhile in TM Lights, where he had a full-time gig. His first race at California, went sour after the engine died. He started 2nd at Carbondale, but finished in 11th. Michael is struggling out of the gate, unlike his TMMC campaign.
