The Texas Motor Speedway is a 1.5-mile (2.414-km) quad-oval speedway located in Fort Worth, Texas.

The FARC Lowe Dollar series has visited the track semi-regularly since 2010; it hosted the season opener in 2011, and the FARC Lone Star Championships in 2014. The track is also the current venue for the Texas 500, the most historic and prestigious race in the ASCC.

The track also hosted the 2008 Round of Texas in the TM Master Cup.

2012 Hanmore Formula Overdrive season finale[edit | edit source]

The track hosted the 2012 Hanmore World Championships as the season finale of the 2012 Formula Overdrive season. The race was catastrophic as there were two serious incidents with the first one that involved Tiffany Matthews, Tyson Lautenschlager, Alessandro Rossini, Cody Keaton and Garry Carter. Rossini was sustained with a fractured vertabrate but expected to be okay for 2013. Carter was having back issues, but was later announced that he was devastatingly paralyzed. Unfortunately Matthews, Lautenschlager, and Keaton would succumb to their injuries. The second serious incident included Peter Kreamer and Gordon Sting. Sting would climb out of the car under his own power, but Kreamer couldn't. He also was transported to a local hospital in Fort Worth, but, he too, unfortunately passed away from his injuries. It was reported later that Sting also was DOA at the hospital, cementing the race's place among the worst tragedies in racing history.

There were several people wondered if Formula Overdrive would even continue after the tragedy that took place. Those were the first deaths in Formula Overdrive competition.

The track was planned to return in 2013, but was later replaced by Auto Club Speedway due to safety concerns as a result of the disaster. Ultimately, Formula Overdrive would return to the track in 2014 for the rechristened American 500; Cliff Raymond would win the race, with no serious incidents.

After Hanmore put Formula Overdrive up for sale at the end of the season, but found no buyers, the series would be dormant until 2018. Now sanctioned by the National Sports Car Club, Formula Overdrive will return to Texas for the season finale once again.
