EuroV8 Cup Driver |
Rebecca Sinead O'Rodagh (known as Becky, born 29 September 1993) is an Irish Dash Cup driver from Cork. She currently drives the #09 for Proline GP.
Career[edit | edit source]
Early career[edit | edit source]
Becky and her sister Sara competed alongside each other in the National Irish Karting Series from 2007 to 2011, with both enjoying considerable success. They even finished 1-2 in the championship in 2011. For 2012 and 2013 both moved up to compete in Irish Touring Car, both again enjoying success, Becky finishing 3rd in the Championship. They went their separate ways for 2014, with Becky finding a drive in the European Late Model Challenge and Sara moving to the States to try to find a drive there.
ELMC/EuroV8 Cup[edit | edit source]
Mackintosh Motor Sport signed Becky to drive for their European Late Model Challenge team in 2014 after they entered the series beginning at Zandvoort. Team owner Steven Mackintosh offered Becky a contract due to her previous career results and she didn't let him down, finishing 10th and 18th in the first two races at Zandvoort and picking up pole for the third race, later finishing 2nd behind Christian McMillan. Becky's team mate in the ELMC is Dutch driver Gróa Driessen.
At the next round, Brands Hatch, Becky continued her form, finishing 13th and 17th in the first two races. She then had an amazing run in the final race to finish 5th, two places behind her team-mate Driessen who finished 3rd.
Becky would have the best run at Lydden Hill, where she finished 4th in Race 1, 3rd in Race 2, and 2nd in Race 3. The rest of the season would see some pretty lackluster results by her standards, excepting two 7th places at Merano and a 2nd at Warneton. She would finish 16th in the final standings.
Becky remained with the team for 2015, again alongside Driessen.
Dash Cup[edit | edit source]
Becky will compete for Proline GP in the 2016 Dash Cup season. She will drive the #09 McDonald's Volpi, and will be team-mates with Dan Johnson from the 2015 Aspira Juniors and race-winning driver Grant Macintosh, formerly of The ATK Race Team.
