The 2010 Round of Russia, the seventeenth of 19 events in the 2010 TM Master Cup season, was originally scheduled to be the 12th round on the schedule, but was pushed back to round 17 due to wildfires that broke out in western Russia a week before the race. It was held at the Volgoring Circuit in Russia on the same day as the 2010 Round of Alabama. As a result of this, TM Master Cup Series officials barred competitors from competing in both events. Katzev Engineering was the only team with the resources to compete in both races, with Yuliya Nosova giving them their first win against a field consisting primarily of local entrants.

Pre-race notes[edit | edit source]

Four cars of the only 25 entered did not take the start: the No. 01 of Janusz Pisarczyk, the No. 43 of Iosef Matveev, the No. 94 of Timo Strack, and the No. 111 of Juho Kivela. Pisarczyk and Matveev wrecked their primary — and only — cars in practice, while Strack, who was scheduled to debut the new Gessler model for 2011 in this race, wrecked both his primary and backup cars. Kivela failed to start due to mechanical woes.

Katzev cars were dominant in pre-race activities, with the only threat to them being the Finntech cars and the car of Charlie Waters.

Due to the low number of entries, TM Master Cup officials relaxed the chassis rules, meaning a number of cars that ordinarily would not be allowed on the grid were. This meant that a number of local drivers, some driving cars as old as a 2007 Lenard, were allowed to take part in the event.
