Everything comes in twos for me. So far in 2012, I've won two points races, got two poles and flipped twice.

—Ashley Tucker in an interview.

Ashley Tucker is an American ARLA Elite Series driver from Tampa, Florida. In 2012, she is driving the No. 57 Kalberg Ice Cream Saar for Riggs Motorsports. She is the winner of the 2012 Rookie Shootout. She is currently engaged to TM Master Cup series star Tom Delgado.

Early Career[edit | edit source]

Ashley started off her career in Late Models in 2009 after her father noticed that Ashley was playing a lot of stock car simulation video games on her brother Thomas's games console. As a result, her father, who owned a company, bought her a late model, and entered her at her local short track, which at her time of residence, was Huntsville in Alabama. Ashley did not do all too well in the race, finishing last, five laps down, but the more she practiced in the late model, the more she adapted to it, and she finished 5th in her next race. Her father continued to fund her racing career, and in 2010, she became the Huntsville Late Model Champion. In early 2011, she stated that she wanted to run a race in ARLA and so her father bought her an ARLA Stock Car and put his company on the car as sponsorship.

ARLA Career[edit | edit source]

Ashley and her brother entered the 2011 150 Laps of Dwyer as a bet from their father that if she managed to make the qualifying stages that he would find her a ride for 2012 in ARLA. Ashley surprised the critics and her father, not only making qualifying but also making the race. Ashley managed to lead a few laps and run top 10 consistently, but when her brother got in the car, the car suffered from a tire issue, causing them to pit. However, they still finished 20th. After the 150 Laps of Dwyer, Ashley Tucker managed to find a ride for the rest of the season, replacing Shane Lake at Jaguar Racing. Her father continued to fund her ARLA campaign through until 2012.

In 2012, Tucker signed with Riggs Motorsports and got sponsorship from Kalberg Ice Cream, which silenced the ARLA fans that referred to her as a pay driver. Her 2012 campaign started off outstandingly, when Tucker won the 2012 Rookie Shootout. Tucker then qualified on the pole for the 2012 Daytona 300, but got caught up in a crash in the race, but still managed to finish the race. Tucker has stayed relatively consistent throughout the season, apart from a crash at Quincy, running usually inside the top 20. In pole qualifying for the 2012 Mini Indy 500, Ashley grabbed the pole, being the only driver to break the 20 second mark. Ashley said on twitter that she has "never been so excited in her life." However, this came to no avail, as on lap 277, Tucker got turned by Michael Madrigal, then got scooped onto her roof and rolled up the track. Tucker was okay in this scary looking accident, however.

Tucker rebounded very well, however, winning the 2012 Smash Beer 400 in dominant fashion. In victory lane, Tom Delgado proposed to her, and Ashley said yes to him. They are to be married in December at Delgado's newest vacation house, a mansion in San Juan, Puerto Rico. After blowing up in the 2012 Karl's 250 but again, rebounded very well, winning the 2012 Sarabai 300. However, flashbacks of the Mini Indy 500 came as Tucker was sent flipping again at the 2012 Saitama 200, but this crash was much worse than her Mini Indy 500. A questionable move by Raibeart Scott make Tucker more angry then what is characteristic for her. She refused to talk to anybody other than Tom Delgado for a few hours, which was a choice of her own so that she never did anything stupid while mad. She calmed down later on, but still refuses to talk to Scott. She got into an incident with Ben Atkins at Tokyo, but both parties looked that over and carried on. After the Japan tour, Ashley got in an argument over twitter with her brother Thomas Tucker, which resulted in Thomas telling her to "get out of her life." Tucker was upset by this, and disabled her twitter account. However, a few days later, she re-enabled it to announce that her brother had been arrested after he attacked her fiance, Tom Delgado. Poor runs at Tokyo, including a first lap collision with Ben Atkins, and Iowa came after this, then a 17th at Memphis wasn't much better. However, Tucker was not to be kept down for long, as she rebounded from falling out of the top 20 in points to gain a 10th at Orange County. This was sadly overshadowed by the death of Scott Morales. She got a strong fifth place finish at New York, after finishing 6th in the Dash Cup event for Tom Delgado Racing and then she finished third from the pole at Talladega. At Rockford, Tucker was going to qualify for the race, but a crash very late in the running put her back to 6th which put her in the B-Mains.
