Pre-race storylines[edit | edit source]
Flying starts were implemented for this race, as is usually done in the V8 Champ Car series. This meant that the field would be given the green flag in Turn 4, as opposed to taking the green at the start-finish line as is customary in most other stock car series.
This race was the second of three double-points races (Karjala and Decatur are the other two).
Also, it was announced that the 2012 full-time grid would be announced prior to the Round of Michigan.
The Lycoia Brute made its TM Master Cup debut in this race, with Greg Woodard at the helm.
