Championship Overview |
The 2013 Dash Cup season was the fourteenth season of the Europe-based Dash Cup series.
Pre-Season Changes[edit | edit source]
An 18 race schedule was announced for the 2013 Dash Cup season, preceeded by a six-race American exhibition tour. It was also announced that the first race of the season, the EuroSpeedway GP, would be a special one-off event like the Spa GP. To accomodate the expanded number of entries into the series, Dash Cup adopted the twinbill format used by ARLA and the RROL.
Originally, Dash Cup officials announced that they wanted to stay in Europe for 2013 after costs of going over to Japan and Australia in 2012 seemed to be a burden to certain teams that are already struggling for money. Ultimately, however, the Japanese races were retained, as well as the races in the United States. Dash Cup officials also announced their intent to span out to a wider range of European tracks. However, Dash Cup officials also stated that, they want to keep to a fair amount of ovals, so Rockingham Motor Speedway returned, even though this track was previously ridiculed by the officials.
Speidel announced that it would withdraw from the series in 2013, citing budget issues.
If a driver is from Britain, they are allowed to class themselves as either British or, in contrast, English, Scottish, Welsh or Northern Irish.
2012 Dash Cup American Exhibition Tour Schedule[edit | edit source]
The American Exhibition Tour took place after the 2012 season, and utilized the cars that raced during the 2012 season. Cassandra Collins won the exhibition title, over team-mate Rence Brown.
